This programme is a celebration of unforgettable tunes and easy-to-love classics. You’ll hear the joyful and colourful sounds of Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony, inspired by his travels through sun-soaked 19th-century Italy. Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite delivers some of the most famous and enchanting ballet melodies ever composed, while his Rococo Variations, performed by the renowned cellist Wen-Sinn Yang, is a sparkling, elegant piece filled with charm and wit. The evening also offers the familiar and stirring Nimrod from Elgar’s Enigma Variations, a piece that never fails to move with its warmth and grandeur, and the lively, drama-filled highlights of Bizet’s Carmen Suite No. 1. Plus, experience something new and thrilling with a world premiere by composer Jeffrey Ching, adding a fresh touch to this evening of timeless favourites.
